Creating a Stronger CommunitY

one ChilD At a Time

Since 1964, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region has paired thousands of Bigs and Littles in life-changing one-to-one mentoring relationships.

We are regionally-operated and locally-funded non-profit organization serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties.

We match children (we call them "Littles") with mentors (we call them "Bigs") to create supportive, long-lasting, and life-changing relationships. The children in our program are between 6-21 years old.

Behind our passion for helping kids is our focus on the individual child. Every child in our program has asked for that little bit of extra support in achieving their goals, and we are here to empower them.

why Mentorship Works

While every child has the inherent ability to succeed and thrive in life, each participant is unique in their needs and situations.

Every child in our program develops a bespoke action plan based on their unique interests, characteristics, and personality.

Plans are grounded by a deliberate emphasis in:

  • Educational success

  • College readiness

  • Exposure to career opportunities

  • Development of pro-social behaviors

We recognize that while talent is equally distributed, opportunity is not. By taking a personalized approach, we strive to ignite the potential of every child.
